My client have a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support their expanding Woodbury, Exeter office ( located between Exeter and Exmouth )

£59,750 inc car allowance , PLUS fuel card, profit share (12% last year ), private health, pension , life etc

• They are in a fortunate position to be increasing their commercial team, by introducing a new role of Senior Surveyor .
• Based in their established Exmouth Business unit, you will be providing mentoring/ coaching to the existing Quantity Surveying team, consisting of two Trainee Surveyors and two Quantity Surveyors and being the link to the Managing Surveyor and the client .
• The contract they deliver is unique; they deliver all their services direct to the client. These include Response/ Voids, Planned Maintenance and Compliance works, making the total contract worth £13m per year.
• This provides the commercial and operational Business the opportunity to have variety within their work, focusing on ensuring that you and the team, are delivering an exceptional service to the client, building strong relations whilst driving down the costs and maximising on profit.
• As its response maintenance its very data analysis based so someone that s keen on excel and reports and diving into the real detail balanced with the leadership qualities (supportive, natural leader, like to mentor and see people succeed and develop) is important
• Their main customer base are social housing and Council/ Local authorities so worth a mention any exposure in these areas .

The Senior Surveyor role:

As Senior Surveyor, you will actively work as part of the commercial team as a Senior Surveyor, supporting the Managing Surveyor with commercial decisions and reporting, to ultimately impact the unit s overall profitability/commercial success , making improvements for the future. This will include:

• Developing and maintaining a high performing surveying team to ensure delivery of contracts at or above agreed profit performance
• Working with SOR, you will analyse and review all payments to source solutions that will enable you to have the most cost-effective contract for yourselves, whilst maintaining the client relationship.
• Preparing valuations to closely monitor contract performance, striving for better solutions and outcomes and really steering the commercial contract performance
• Overseeing and managing financial and technical aspects of the contract including procurement, invoicing, and payment to minimise costs, maximise value and cash flow, and meet profit and debtor day targets.
• Mentoring and training new surveyors and trainees and support all commercial aspects within your unit and the wider response product, where applicable
• Developing and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues, the customers/clients, subcontractors, and suppliers

What will you bring as a Senior Surveyor?

• A proven ability to minimise cost and maximise value, profit, and cash flow effectively, ideally from within a maintenance contracting environment or similar
• Demonstrable people leadership skills, whether that be managing an experienced team, or mentoring Trainees
• The ability to process high volumes of data analysis, with the use of IT systems, and Excel
• Experience of working with direct labour and subcontract procurement
• Experience of working on Schedule of Rates contracts is desirable, with the ability to price minor works from first principles.
