Headley Professional Recruitment Ltd are recruiting an Estimator / Assistant Estimator for a regional construction main contractor. Our client is a Leeds/Bradford based construction main contractor with an excellent reputation. They work on new build projects in the industrial, retail and commercial sectors across the North of England valued between 1-10 million.

Due to continued growth across the company, they are seeking an Estimator/Assistant Estimator to join their Pre-Construction Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction estimator or an up-and-coming Assistant to play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates, developing tenders, and supporting the successful delivery of construction and civil engineering projects.

You will be involved in every stage of the pre-construction process from initial enquiry to bid submission.

Responsibilities:

• Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates using first principles pricing.
• Tender Preparation: Develop tender programmes and coordinate submissions.
• Bills of Quantities: Take off measurements and extract details from drawings and specifications.
• Supply Chain Management: Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations.
• Client Relations: Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and designers.

Requirements:

• Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Construction or a related field.
• Proven experience in an estimating role within the construction sector.
• Strong understanding of first principles pricing and SMM7 measurement methods.
• Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., ConQuest) and MS Office (including Project).
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
