The 4D Planner

The role of a 4D Construction Specialist at Sir Robert McAlpine is to;

• Assist development, verification and updating of construction sequence, logistics and timings via the use of 4D or similar techniques.
• Overlay the ‘planned’ position with the ‘actual’ position at defined intervals.
• Produce images and animations to clearly illustrate and communicate the above (e.g. logistics/access routes, laydown areas, planned v actual progress, routes of MEP service circuits) in clear and appealing ways to various team members.
• In addition to having the required technical knowledge and software expertise, such as programme validation, they must be experienced in handling other activities, these include presenting, training and problem solving to motivate and encourage our staff and consultants to use the benefits of 4D effectively in their roles.
• You will champion the business philosophy by behaving in line with our values and collaborating with all internal departments to ensure alignment to the business mandated Digital Construction strategy.

Your Profile

• Understanding of engineering and/or construction environment working on complex major projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of planning techniques and how they link with construction methodology and logistics.
• High level of CAD modelling experience in AutoCAD / Revit / 3DS Max or similar software.
• Confident in delivering Synchro Open Viewer training and presentations to teams to promote the use of 4D.
• Highly organised, being an initiator in taking responsibility.
• Must have skills in setting priorities and managing work pressures.
• Excellent communications skills, including visually, written and verbally.
• Flexible working attitude, with a can-do team player approach.
• HND / Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or suitable alternative.
• Expert knowledge of the relevant modelling tools.
• Construction Technical Knowledge
• Temporary works – a working knowledge and the ability to represent during model production.
• Methodology and buildability – a working knowledge of the different methods of construction.

Proficient user of Synchro platform, including:

• • Mobilisation and setup of Synchro for 4D planning activities
  • Managing and federating multiple Synchro models
  • Ability to train and support others in Synchro platform and viewer use
  • Preparation of 3D models for use in Synchro
  • Use of video editing and presentation tools to provide engaging Synchro visualisations
  • Deep understanding of Synchro tool, including file formats, modelling options and templating
