We're seeking Building Surveyors to take on some fascinating conservation challenges covering properties in Worcester, Warwickshire and Birmingham. The salary is circa £32,304 - £36,700 per annum, depending on experience What it's like to work here: Our internal Consultancy team supports the conservation and maintenance of some of the UK's most important buildings and treasured places. What you'll be doing: You'll support our long-term stewardship of nationally-significant buildings through their maintenance - with planned works including the repair of Mansion house roofs, improvements to fire protection, dealing with estate walls under attack from the weather, supporting investment on new facilities including shops, restaurants, visitor centres and car parks; we look after an extraordinary range of places and spaces here at the National Trust. You'll be our Building Surveying expert, using your know-how to safeguard the future of these incredible places, while helping more and more people to enjoy them. From insightful advice to practical support, to day-to-day operations and projects of a variety of scales and complexity, working with property staff and fellow consultants you'll be responsible for the management of building conservation, repair and maintenance to a sustainable standard. You'll draw on internal and external data and trends too, helping us to champion innovation in building matters, in a way which increases local engagement with our properties and supports them in raising vital funds. But most importantly, as an enthusiastic champion of best practice, you'll bring new thinking and novel approaches to whatever building work you turn your hand to. Who we are looking for: As an experienced Building Surveyor bringing buildings to life is what excites you. You'll need to be: A professionally accredited surveyor (MRICS or MCIOB) Confident in what's happening in the wider world of building surveying and relevant legislation Knowledgeable in building conservation, philosophy and repair A good communicator with the ability to build collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders. Project delivery, including writing specifications and contract management, and use of project management processes Competent with the use and maintenance of garden machinery including tractors, hedge trimmers, pedestrian and ride on mowers Managing budgets and delivery in core maintenance and compliance work A track record of managing and delivering innovation in a multi-disciplinary environment / team Package: Benefits include flexible working whenever possible plus free parking at most locations.
